About me: Even though I’ve been relatively athletic throughout my life, I’ve always battled with being a little bit bigger than most of the people around me. I’ve always battled with a self-image issue that I really would like to rid myself of in this journey. I’ve lost weight, gained it back, lost it, gained it back and more…..and now I am determined to lose the weight and maintain. I am determined to make this happen.
In the summer of 2008, I started the BeachBody program called P90X and completed a round of it. I also decided to take on the Couch-to-5K program (which I highly recommend). However, I eventually stopped with the strength training and continued the running only. It was that October that I ran my first 5K (32:59 chip time) in Louisville, KY. I continued running through the tough central Illinois winter and completed another 5K in Champaign, IL (31:32 chip time). I spent the summer of 2009 training for the Evansville Half Marathon, which I completed with two of my great friends in 2:24:24. It was incredible, incredible day. I took a week off to rest my legs, and (like an idiot) never truly got back into it.
My goal is to reverse all of this procrastination. My goal is to be healthy…period.
